With over 18 million children having lost both parents across the world, we believe we can step into our faith and end this crisis. The Open Hands ministry was established to reflect the congregations desire and call to serve adoptive and foster children and families within the church, locally and globally.

Open Hands Ministry Opportunities

Church Partners

Shoreline Church is dedicated to ensuring members of the congregation are supported when choosing Adoption or Foster Care for their family. We have established a matching grant for families interested in adoption, mentor families for those interested in adoption or foster care, as well as support services and community groups to get involved with.

Local Partnerships

The Open Hands ministry is focused on supporting adoption and foster care within our community through supporting The Compassion ClosetThe Forgotten Initiative and the Department of Children's Services Safe Room.

Global Partnerships

Shoreline Church and the Open Hands Ministry support of The Global Orphan Project in India with our partners there.

Compassion Closet

The Compassion Closet exists to provide quick-turn assistance to foster, kinship, adoptive, and other families in the Knoxville area.. We also desire to serve birth families, aging-out youth, kinship placements, and domestic/international adoptive families as God allows and the needs arise.



The Forgotten Initiative

The Forgotten Initiative resources, supports and networks Advocates across the nation, helping them grow sustainable foster care ministries in their communities. Advocates mobilize the Body of Christ through service projects, mentoring and family support initiatives.

While many Christian families have the desire to adopt and resources to care for a child, initial costs often can keep families from following God's call to adoption. Shoreline Church has partnered with Lifesong for Orphans to help bridge the financial gap in adoption fundraising by provide a matching grant to church partners. The grant will match up between ($500-$4000) a child.

March 25

Shoreline wants to connect our existing adoptive and foster families and establish the community. The Open Hands ministry is hosting an Adoptive and Foster Care family roundtable on March 25 during the 9:15 or 10:45 worship gathering in Room 202.


April 8

For those of you that are interested in adoption or foster care and may have questions or want to know where to start, we will be hosting an orientation session during the 9:15 or 10:45 worship gathering on April 8. We'll have foster care and adoptive families there to answer your questions.
