Prayer Of The Restless

Comforter to restless hearts
remind me You are near
in the stillness, come and speak
Your story to my ear

somewhere in the pages turned
my yearning went astray
memories of vibrant dreams
fading slow to grey

resentful and impatient
RELUCTANT SMILE AT BEST
TIRED OF EMPTY CHAPTERS
HEART AND SOUL DISTRESSED

LIFE UNFOLDING, EVERY SCENE
ITS CHARACTERS AND PLOT
HOW DISTANT FROM COMPELLING NOW
FRUITFUL, IT'S NOT

AWARE OF HOW I GOT HERE
DESIROUS TO LEAVE
DEAFENING NOISE SURROUNDING
YOUR VOICE GROWN FAINT, I GRIEVE

COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE
VILLAINS OF MY FABLE
DEMANDING ATTENTION
YET UNINVITED TO YOUR TABLE

MIGHTIER THAN ANY SWORD
TAKE THE PEN OF LIFE
AND WRITE SALVATION ON MY HEART
STRIKING DOWN MY PRIDE

REMIND ME HOW THE AUTHOR BLED
TO MAKE HIS WORK COMPLETE
AND WHEN THE HERO ROSE TO LIFE
FREEDOM CAPTURED ME

BEAUTIFUL THE LIVING WORD
AWAKENING MY HEART
THE GOSPEL RALLIES MEN ONCE DEAD
TO RISE AGAIN AND MARCH

IGNITE MY LIPS TO SPEAK THE WORDS
OF UNRELENTING FIRE
FIERCELY FILLED WITH HOLY WILL,
ETERNITY'S DESIRE

GRANT MY TONGUE A BITTER TASTE
FOR ALL THIS WORLD'S RENOWN
THAT I MAY BOAST IN CHRIST ALONE
AND IN HIS PRESENCE, BOW

APATHY NOW DESTINY
PASSION'S SECOND CHANCE
TOMORROW'S PAGES WRITTEN WITH
HIS PROMISE IN ADVANCE

INCIDENTS INCITING
TROUBLE SURE TO COME
STILL DAILY I WILL TELL THE TALE
THE WONDERS HE HAS DONE

STEADY IS THE MAKER'S HAND
CONSTANT IS HIS LOVE
LET MY MORTAL THEME RESOUND:
JESUS IS ENOUGH.
